It seems so easy for each of us to get caught up in the Corporate shuffle and living to work, or rushing through our day. We get so distracted that we never really take the time to love what we have and ENJOY it!
In my former life, as a corporate zombie, myself along with so many others would walk around in a stupor looking depressed and barely awake! I would hear people say all the time, “It will get better when…” When what? When you have more money, when you have more time?!?
Let’s be honest, when will you ever have more time? And we all know, the more money you make the more you spend. Don’t get me wrong, we should all work hard to make a living, but if you decide to DO something you LOVE, time and money aren’t such an issue! I won’t accept that we are here to work 60 – 80 hour work weeks doing a job we loathe… working for weekend or that week of vacation.
Do you really want to wait until retirement to ENJOY YOUR LIFE? I hate to say this, but what makes us think we will live until retirement anyways?? Are you willing to put off enjoying life for a job that you are miserable doing? How can we continue to put our biggest dreams on the back burner??
I was sick and tired of being sick and tired, and working for the weekends. I took life into my own hands! I knew that I could achieve so much more as an entrepreneur. I decided to fight for my dream and be a part of something that was bigger! As most of you know, I recently ventured out on my own as a Health & Fitness coach. Here’s how I got to where I am today:
Find your TRUE PASSION: Sit down and think about all the things you used to have time for. What did you really love doing? Is this passion something that can satisfy your need to make a difference in this world? I find that this is satisfied for me by helping others in what I do!
Do your RESEARCH. Write out all the ways this passion could become a life-long career for you. De-construct your passion into small tasks, ones you can accomplish in less than one hour. A long list is good! For example, if you know someone in this field, one of your tasks would be to go chat with them.
Make a PLAN. How will you get started? when will you start? Will you continue to keep your full-time job as you start this venture? For me, I started my business while working at my Corporate job. This may seem daunting, but starting up this business awakened something inside of me! I was no longer a zombie! If you do decide to keep you FT job for financial reasons, make a goal on when you can quit and take your passion full time.
START. Put that plan into action! That’s easy enough!
Review your PLAN. I recommend making monthly and weekly goals to accomplish what you wrote out in your plan. Every time you reach a goal and start a new one, make sure to review if that still applied to what is most important!
Don’t wait! Life won’t. If something deep inside of you is waiting to come out and begging for your attention, NOW is the TIME! Find YOUR PURPOSE. Find what you need to do, which direction you need to move, and what action you need to take to start living the life you want to be living. By not following your deep seeded passion, you are not only doing yourself a disservice, but everyone you meet along the way of your new journey. You have something special to share with the world… no go LIVE it!
