What is Self Sabotage REALLY?

Self sabotage may actually be an indication you’re on the right track, contrary to the guilt, shame and judgement you may have felt when experiencing it in the past.

You see, over the last couple years I have been re-learning to embrace my emotions, tapping into my emotional body. This has helped me release a ton of stuck energy, giving me the space to tap into my creative power.

And with this re-learning, I’ve come to believe that so called negative emotions are just signs that things are coming to the surface. So instead of pushing them away, I’ve been embracing them, hugging them and understanding where they are coming from.

Since these emotions are brought on by triggers in our lives (situations, traumas, people, core beliefs or behaviors), once we understand the trigger, we can start to create a new belief or pattern to overcome it!

That’s where self sabotage comes in….

When a new belief is challenged by your old belief. <think gladiators clashing head on>

Which is exactly why self sabotage is a sign you are changing, shifting, ascending, and spirally upward!

Let me give you an example:

Old belief: I have to be busy all the time to feel productive and worthy.
New belief: I must take time off to refuel and recharge in order to bring new life into my business.
Self Sabotage: When I take time off, I feel guilty about it and never fully relax or give myself space to mentally step away from my business.

Sound familiar?!? The old belief shows up and makes us feel guilty because it is so deeply engrained in our subconscious. This is a good sign! It tells us we are still hanging on to that old belief and we have more work to do to let go and release.

My best advice: journal! Ask yourself, why do I still have that belief inside of me? What pieces are still left? How can I let it go? Ask yourself those questions one at a time and let your writing do the healing. It may surprise you what comes out!

Soooo, next time to feel that self saboteur creeping in, say ah ha! I see you old belief, I honor you and I know that at one time you served me well. However, you are no longer serving me today and it’s time for you to leave. Thank you, but no thank you!

You possess the power to create the reality you so deeply desire! Doing the work on yourself is always the best investment you can make.

I am a mixed media mosaic artist based in Sturgeon Bay, WI. I love using a range of materials for my creations including but never limited to glass, ceramic, gemstones, vintage beads, acrylic paint, watercolor paint, concrete, metal and magazine images.

My work is guided by the energies of the chakras, the energies of the divine feminine principles and by the energies of the cosmos. The macro, the micro and everything in between.

To me, it is all interconnected, all coming from Source. You will see in my work that I am very inspired by color gradients to create an ombre effect.
